Baby J Is Here!

WOW! The wait is finally over. J P Dray was born Friday, June 27, 2008 at 8:26am. He weighed 7 lbs 1 oz and was 21 inches long.
I had been feeling pretty bad for weeks, but not even two minutes afterBaby J was delivered I felt great! I was kinda disappointed I had to wait for the epidural to wear off before I was allowed out of bed. I was actually walking around better and more comfortably an hour after delivery than I had for probably two weeks or so. It is so nice to feel good again. I'm not gonna say I'm not tired, I am, but man it was time for him to be born!
Big J is pretty good with Baby J. He likes to look at him and is happy to notice that Baby J has a nose the same as mommy, daddy, and himself. #1 has the week off and is a big help. He and Big J "worked out" today and went to Wal-Mart. We have friends bringing meals which is such a blessing.
Well, I'd love to say more, but Baby J is telling us that is is time to eat...NOW. (please) :o)

Are We There Yet?

So...after 3 weeks of bedrest, I'm allowed to be up and around. I have to admit although that sounds like fun, I don't feel the greatest and still am not doing much. Poor #1 has to put lotion on my feet, I can't reach them whatsoever. I am so glad for flip flops because I think shoes would be impossible at this point. Big J does not understand what is wrong with mommy and has tried to induce labor several times by jumping on me. Monday the doctor said anytime now we'd have a baby, but promised me he'd induce if there was no baby by 39 weeks (July 11). I'm definatly holding him to that.
Big J is so funny. He says and signs over 60 words. His favorite by far is "NOOOOO". Sometimes it doesn't even mean no, it's just fun to say I guess. He has been loving being outside and we've had great weather. He plays in the sandbox, slides down the big boy slide, does sidewalk chalk and bubbles, and picks up (inspects, puts down, picks back up, talks to) every rock and stick he can get his hands on. Sometimes I go out to the deck to watch him. I usually get gifts of clover, rocks, and sticks to hold.
I don't have anything really exciting to tell. Just hanging out here in Xenia waiting for a baby.

No Baby

No baby yet...still waiting...about 35 days from my due date. Mom thinks I'll have the baby very soon but after 2 weeks of labor I'm afraid I'll never have it until it is like August. Baby is healthy though. Big J is absolutely loving Grandmommy here.

What Would We Do Without Moms?

No picture tonight. I don't have the heart to ask someone to bring me the camera and the cord to hook it to the computer after all they have been doing for me. Baby J is trying to come sooner than necessary and I am on bedrest. My doctor told me to take it easy last Monday, which I did, but then after a trip to the hospital on Friday (June 6) I am down until further notice. I am dilated 2cm and have contractions about 4 times an hour all day, and then every five minutes most of the evening and night. I can't say it isn't nice sometimes to be able to take a break, but not all day everyday.
I don't know what I would do if my mom wasn't here to help me out. Big J is such a handful right now. That and sitting at the table for twenty minutes or so I have to lay down...not exactly great for trying to cook or do laundry or clean. #1 has also been helping out, but he has to work and had a softball tournament this week.
Big J's new favorite word is "no". He loves to not want to do whatever you'd like him to be doing. I think the 2's are going to be just so fun. He does enjoy playing living room baseball these days. He has this inflatable stick thing that is supposed to hit against another one and make a loud noise at a sporting event. He uses it as a bat. We throw a small soft ball at his 'bat' (which he never swings) and when the ball hits it he throws the 'bat' down and runs around the house like he is running the bases. #1's parents taught him this and it is hours of entertainment. Luckily I'm a good pitch from my spot on the couch and he is willing to hand me the ball after each sprint around the house.
Well, I'm done feeling sorry for myself. It is more important that Jack is healthy than I am comfortable!

Big J doesn't like to wear the sunglasses we bought him last fall. Instead, he loves to wear daddy's. He ran up to me and said "cheese" and I was glad I had the camera handy.
Big J is saying more and more sentences. He throws words together in funny orders sometimes (a bit like Yoda) but he is definitely talking up a storm!
Today is the last day of Draycare until August. We had to go to the doctor (more about that later) so we took them to The Greene which is about 1/2 mile from the office. At The Greene they have a large fountain for kids to play in. The only thing I can compare it to is one I saw at Downtown Disney. It is flat to the ground and has about 25 spout things. The fountain spurts and sprays water out of the ground in some kind of synchronization pattern.
After we were all sufficiently soaked, we went to a nearby park to eat lunch and play for awhile. Nice long naps for all!
Ok, back to the doctor. Baby J is doing well, but the doctor has restricted me again. I'm back on light to no lifting, large periods of rest, and no travel out of town. I'm right around the time we had Big J, so he is being really careful. We will have a garage sale this weekend, but he says that is it. So...lots of fun. We are putting up the crib tonight and I have newborn clothes washed and hung up. If we get all ready, nothing will happen!
