You Don't Know What You've Got...

...till it's gone.

Like our hot water.  Since Wednesday.

Wednesday I was trying to give Rosebud a bath when I noticed that the hot water was a little slow in coming.  As in not coming.

And since then #1 has been on the phone with the company (the warranty that should still be in place was voided when the home switched owners.  Convenient.)

And since then I've been taking cold showers or lukewarm baths (think boiling water on the stove).  And Rosebud takes warmish baths.  And the boys went to #1's workout place today to take a shower with him there.  Cause as long as he's working out everyday he gets a hot shower.  That might convince me to start working out.  Or not.

So.  You really don't appreciate what you have.  Until it is gone.

If you didn't "click" on my last post, I'm giving you another chance.  Right here.  Seriously check out this post.  It is the story of someone who has been deeply affected by the issue of abortion.

Because when women have abortions, they will never truly know what they had.  And it will be gone.  Forever.

Superbowl "Party"

As I mentioned yesterday, we don't exactly party for the Superbowl. With my husband working and two kids who have to go to bed should be in bed before halftime...it isn't exactly excitement city.
My kids don't watch hardly any "regular" T.V. Snug does watch Wheel of Fortune probably 3 nights a week. Having commercials on is always entertaining. I'm not big on the media advertising to my kids, but during Wheel or Fortune the ads are pretty safe. Aspercreme, Cialis (he has NO clue), Boniva, denture cleaners, and electronic wheelchair commercials haven't seemed to increased his "gimmes" at the store :o)

Monkey Man rarely sits still for any kind of T.V. but he does enjoy watching football. He sat himself (half dressed) right in front of the T.V. to watch last night. Apparently he is watching a commercial in this picture because the person appears to have a hospital gown on...I don't remember any of the players being that seriously injured during last night's festivities.
Snug on the other hand not only watched the game, but the commercials as well. Luckily he is pretty distractable because the Doritos one with the 3 year old slapping his mother's date after he touched the bowl of chips was a "no-no" with me. I can usually just talk to him during the commercials and he doesn't pay that much attention. However, there was a funny incident last night. After Monkey Man went to bed, I told Snug he could stay up till half-time. There was a commercial for___________? and all the men at the office were in their underpants. They were making copies, doing deskwork, etc. Something about casual Fridays. Not sure. What I do remember is Snug looking at me and declaring "Thems needs to put their CLOTHES on!!!" I had to laugh. This was coming from the boy who has no qualms about running around in his birthday suit even with company here. We have been trying to teach modesty, and apparently it is sinking in.
One commercial I really appreciated was the one by Tim Tebow and his mom about supporting life. They then directed people to http://www.focusonthefamily.com/ where you can watch the commercial if you missed it. I know CBS got lots of flak for airing the commercial from lesbian and abortion causes, but YEAH FOR YOU CBS. I guess I can forgive the underwear men and slapping preschooler.

So back to the "party". I had decided to order pizza for my husband's dinner to make him feel a but more Superbowl-y. Papa John's pizza had a deal that you could get a large any topping pizza for $10. WOW! So I got online to order at about 5:00ish. I could NOT get the website to load...and when it did and I put in my order, it would kick me back to a "cannot find the page" thing. Either I ordered a half cheese half all meats pizza 12 times, or it never went through...probably the latter. So I decided to call them. I had to dial our local branch 27 times (I went back on my cell and counted) before it even would pick up. Papa John's has this annoying policy that you have to listen to their entire commercial spiel on the phone before they even answer. I listened to it for 15 minutes and hung up. I did find out during that lovely listening experience that the $10 deal was only for people who order online (and apparently whom the website works for).

At approximately 6:00 I gave up on Papa John's and decided to go with our old stand-by. I dialed Little Ceasar's and immediately got a REAL person, ordered twice the pizza (but #1 will point out not twice the quality) for the same price and they said it would be ready in 12 minutes. Now that is customer service. But it gets better. #1 was going to pick up the pizza/had the money and he wasn't able to get it until after 7pm. Those poor people held our pizza F O R E V E R on their busiest night of the year. Thanks Little Ceasar's!

So, what did YOU do for the Superbowl?

Going Political On You

Well...I just had to. Sorry.

To start off on a POSITIVE note, our city levy PASSED today, thank you to everyone who was praying. It doesn't guarantee that #1 won't lose his job, but it is a step in the right direction! Praise God. I may or may not have started crying as the lady was checking my ID and all today at the polls. It was really hard to see how agitated #1 was. We continue to trust God in all of this, but it is hard not to fell a bit sick about it. I cannot imagine our city less 6 officers and 6 firefighters. That would be awful.

Oh, Happy Birthday President Obama. I believe I did hear it is his birthday today. Not sure how old his is. Older than me :o)

Ok, so there was a discussion at camp among my CILTS about our current president. They were speaking about him and his decisions (in a not very well informed way) rather disrespectfully. Now, I will be the first one to tell you that there are many things he does that I do not agree with. However, I believe we need to still be respectful of him and pray for him. I told the girls such, and hope that they will take it to heart.

That being said, I want to bring some things to light that you may or may not know. We need to not only be praying for these issues, but contacting our congressmen!

First up, is his health care reform. Click here to see what I am talking about.

Secondly is a HUGE issue on abortion. Because of the news on "cash for clunkers" and "health care" I think this issue is falling through the media cracks. GUESS WHAT! IT IS IMPORTANT! Actually, it is even tied to the health care issues out there.
Click here for more detailed information. Our government, at least some elected officials, want to overrule abortion laws that have been put in place. When Snug was born premature, under what they want the House to pass, I could have told the doctors to abort him. You know, cause he was a problem and all. Yep. Late term abortion would be legal...babies that could survive outside the womb would be eligible for annihilation. Not that ones who are not old enough to survive should be aborted, don't get me wrong. This new bill is going to be passed or rejected in the next 2 weeks.

But I don't like to get all political on you.

Watching Rick Warren

I am watching a Dateline NBC special and they are talking to Rick Warren. I have found his views on homosexuality and abortion interesting-not that he agrees with them, but how he deals with and explains his disagreement.
Rick Warren will be praying at Obama's inauguration, even though many homosexuals are livid. I thought it was interesting how he can respect and be friends with Obama (pretty sure I'm struggling with the first, and would never be the second) and still vehemently disagree with him on many issues.
I really liked what he (Warren) said about tolerance. He said, and I cannot use quotes (grrr that letter that comes after p in the alphabet and is so hard to use on my keyboard) because I know I am not ""ing him exactly from the tv, but it was along the lines of: tolerance used to mean I can respect you and be kind to you even though I do not agree with your views. Now tolerance means that all views are valid and equal-which we as believers don't believe (or shouldn't). So I am not tolerant because I hate abortion and think it is a sin, even though I can be friends and supportive of someone who is considering abortion or has had an abortion. I just hope when I talk to others who I disagree with (aka am considered intolerant of) I can be as kind and respectful as Mr. Warren was in his tv interview.
I'm pretty sure if you want to see parts of the interview with Ann Curry and Rick Warren you could look it up on NBC.com.

Race For The Presidency

This race for the presidency should not be about race. My friend April sent me an e-mail the other day that really irritated me. (Not that she sent it, the content) It was a recording of a radio show (Howard Stern-nope I'm not endorsing him, trust me) and they were interviewing people in New Orleans about who they were going to vote for. People were insisting they were not voting for Obama because he was black, but rather because of what he stood for. (If you want the e-mail, please contact me) The interviewer actually would say things like "do you like Obama because he is pro-life or because he thinks we should keep our troops in Iraq?" Without even noticing the interviewer had just described McCain, not Obama, they would give which one they 'agreed' with him on more. He would then ask if they agreed with Obama's decision to have Sarah Palin as his vice president and oh yes, they agreed wholeheartedly with that decision. COME ON PEOPLE. It is not right to vote for a candidate because of their race. On the other hand, I've heard a neighbor who lives in our platt say she would never vote for a black man no matter what he stood for. (She said she wasn't sure she liked him but she'd vote for McLane-yep you read that right, McLane instead) That is so hateful and wrong. I guess I just am really bothered by this whole election. If I get one more political phone call I might go crazy. I am not fearful as I've heard other people describe it that Obama will be president. I totally think it is in God's hands who becomes the next leader of the United States. I don't feel that we are a Christian nation anymore...so why would we elect someone who even appears to be God-fearing? Am I saying I don't care if he was to become president? Absolutely not. I hope and pray that he doesn't...but I won't be surprised if he does. There are many issues I feel would be put into place and be totally detrimental to my family and community. My main biggest scariest most worrisome issue is his stance on abortion. We may have to move to Canada...or Australia (and pick up awesome accents)...or maybe Madagascar-they like to Move It Move It. Oh BTW Laura Bush called my home tonight to endorse a candidate for state senate...I didn't know I was in the White House phone directory!

Praying For Stellan

A couple of months ago I was browsing my cousin's favorite blogs and stumbled across a blog I found interesting. 'MckMama' has been blogging about kids, pregnancy, etc and today her baby Stellan was born! He was one of those "you should just abort" babies due to an enlarged heart and other issues. However he had two apgars at 9 each! Isn't God great? She is a Christian and attributes Stellan's health to Him alone. I will continue praying for them though because some of the conditions they were worried about could prove to be a problem in the future...but for today he is alive and well!
Just for clarification on "stinky feet cake"...my mom was wondering what on earth I was talking about. That was the point...he just randomly came up with that...I have NO idea what prompted him.

This is a much better 4 month picture of Baby J...see what a difference when I actually take the time to take a picture instead of remembering at 10pm, rushing in and taking a picture just because I need it? Too bad this wasn't taken on Monday...his actual 4 month birthday.
