Dear Santa....

Dear Santa,
First off I'd like to tell you that we don't believe. Ok, Snug isn't sure what he believes...but we've told him you're not real. Mostly because um, you're nice and all, but you don't exist. We just don't want to tell our kids that you and the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy are all real and then when they find out it isn't true...doubt if Jesus is real. Cause He is.

Secondly, I need to apologize to you. Because my kids are little. Little Monkey Man is only two. And he loves you. And he feels he needs to prove his love to you. I'm so sorry he stormed the stage at daddy's Christmas party to present you with his blanket.

I'm also sorry to all the children who were there who he completely ran over to get to you. At least it was funny. I'm also sorry that at the before mentioned party my daughter (8 months today!) felt the need to all but rip your (fake) beard and mustache off, leaving it hanging oddly the rest of the night.

Thank you for being so patient with small children this time of year even though you are not real (remember last year when Snug assaulted you to get his gift and then tore the paper off and threw it at you. I was so proud. Not.).
Regards to your (fake) wife,

Jenney

I didn't take pictures at the party last night (at #1's FOP lodge). These are from Little Monkey Man's party at school. This was by FAR the best looking Santa I've ever seen. Real beard and everything. And he had a blanket on his lap with a plastic trash bag under it in case anyone wet their pants. Snug did that when he was two when the Santa at the mall talked to him. It scared him that badly.

Christian moms...how do you handle "the Santa thing"???

we do the same thing... our kids know the truth about Santa. He isn't real, just a pretend part of Christmas. The real reason to celebrate Christmas is Jesus. I think they each had a Christmas though that even though we told them that Santa isn't real, they thought he was real anyway. They are all on board this year. :)

we've never done Santa. In fact, this is the first year Forrest mentioned him, as in "mom who is that?" I tell him it's Ho Ho the Christmas clown. And that was enough. We don't have preschool or anything to perpetuate it though.

That is a cute and honest letter to Santa, your kids do and say the funniest things. LOL

Nathan is just beginning to get the Santa thing this year. This is all very new to me. Growing up we believed in Santa but we celebrated Jesus. Nathan thinks Santa puts presents under the tree because that's what ALL the Christmas movies show. But he also plays with a nativity and I am slowly introducing him to baby Jesus. I was thinking of throwing Jesus a birthday party on Christmas night with cake and everything. So basically I am learning as I go.

We dont do Santa at all. Even getting out decorations this year, I didnt even get out anything with him (except my super cute dancing Santa mugs) because I am just that over it.

Also- the Tooth Fairy IS real. There is no Christian anything it's ruining, therefore, totally exists. If you ask Alex about Santa, he'll say "Santa's not real. And the Easter Bunny is not real. But the Tooth Fairy is totally real!"
Merry Christmas!

We tell our kids Santa isn't real. Do they believe us? Probably not.

Hi Jenney! This was hilarious! Bug sat on Santas lap and just couldn't get over touching the fur on his coat. It was cute.
We have decided not to do Santa. We will share with him who the real St. Nick was but as far as who Santa is today, no. He will always know the real reason we celebrate Christmas and his gifts are from us. I don't think we will completly write "Santa" off though. Sitting on his lap is just for fun, leaving cookies out for him is for dad. :) He just won't be the focus of our holiday.
My 5 year old nephew caused an uproar in his kinder class last year when he announced Santa was not real. Oops! Guess when teaching he's not we also need to include respecting others beliefs. Lol!

we do the Santa thing...becuase I think it's fun...and when I found out about Santa..I never doubted that Jesus or God weren't real..only the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy :) Plus...I kind of don't want my kid being that little loud mouthed spoiler that ruins it for someone elses kid...that's how I found out..LOUD MOUTHED SPOILER...of course, I was in the 3rd grade..but that's another story!

Travis and I were just talking about this very thing as we progress through this adoption...We have thought that we want to teach our kiddos who Santa is as we don't really want our kids to be the ones at school who have no idea who the big jolly man in the red suit is, BUT we also DO NOT want our kids to be confused on the real meaning of Christmas....Not sure if you're familiar with the video series called "What's in the Bible"? It is from the creator of Veggie Tales, but this is puppet based and teaches ONLY Bible...They will be going through the entire Bible... We have been really impressed with it for my niece and nephew. "What's in the Bible" has also been doing a series of 12 questions regarding Christmas such as a)what does Santa Claus have to do with Christmas b)was Jesus born on Christmas, c)how long ago was Jesus born...etc...
Just thought I'd pass that along... :)
