Oh the weather outside is frightful (winter weather advisories and cancellations galore)
And the fire (would be if I built it) so delightful
And since we've no place to go (because I have a 5.5 month and 2yr old who really need to be in bed)
Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!
It doesn't show signs of stopping (aka, no school and no paycheck tomorrow)
And I've bought some corn for popping (we even have the yummy microwave kind)
The lights are turned way down low (most completely off so we can afford the electric bill)
Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!
When we finally kiss goodnight (um, probably not, I will not be waiting up for #1 to get off work)
How I hate going out in the storm (to get the dogs and bring them in)
But if you really hold me tight (I'd be very surprised because no one is here right now)
All the way home I'll be warm (I'm already home and warm thanks!)
The fire is slowly dying (Dead. It is dead, we haven't had a fire since Sunday)
And my dear I'm still goodbye-ing (good-blogging, I am good -blogging and if you don't agree it is good, you really do not have to read it!)
As long as you love me so (apparently you do love me or you wouldn't keep reading this ridiculous post)
Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!
So, today was another Tuesday in the life of the Drays. I spent a good 4 hours on the phone with a hospital, an insurance company, and an employee advocate fighting a bill we just got today that is due in 9 days that we had no idea existed for an incident with Snug almost 2 years ago...that we don't owe! Ok, we owe a little, but not nearly what they claim we owe. I think it is taken care of...stay tuned.
I am so thankful for my Draycare kids. Mostly because they help pay the bills, but also because they are (usually) great playmates for Snug and I (usually) love having lots of kids around. But once in awhile there are things that are not so hot about watching other people's kids. Things that if my own kids did them, I'd say "Are you kidding me???" and then grumpily take care of it...but things that when someone else's kid does I say "Thou Shall Not Murder, Thou Shall Not Murder" under my breath as I take care of it. I had one of those moments today. One of my small charges took off their pants and diaper during nap time and...you can use your imagination, but it was everything you are imagining, and definatly worse.
I found a new passtime today...like I really needed one, I know. We are on the "do not call" list, we are not in the phone book, and yet we still get people calling to sell us things. When the Dayton Daily News called (again for like the 15th day in a row) instead of getting a little miffed when I looked at my caller ID I got a great idea. I answered and put the phone up to Snug's ear. He spent the next two and a half minutes talking to the sales lady:
Snug: He-wow?
Lady: Hello?
Snug: He-wow?
Lady: Is (#1) there?
Snug: Yes (they share the same first name, so technically even though #1 was at work, Snug was there)
Lady: Can I speak with him?
Me: Shake my head no
Snug: No
Lady: Quiet for a moment. Is your mommy there?
Snug: Yes
Lady: Can I talk to her?
Me: Shake my head no
Snug: No aslkjsdknjenlkwknsdmklns aslkjfsdjklwnkjnasd (takes a breath) asjlkjajdlkasjdakl
Lady: *Click
It is really a good thing she hung up at that point because I was about ready to burst a blood vessel not laughing out loud. He was very serious about talking to this new found friend on the phone! With any luck I"ll get to try it again tomorrow!
After I put Snug and Baby J to bed I flipped on the TV to see what the weather advisories were saying...and Charlie Brown's Christmas was on. I did not get kinda excited and go get (a very surprised) Snug out of bed to watch. We snuggled up on the couch and laughed at Snoopy together. I didn't ever realize how nasty they can talk to each other, and I didn't appreciate the word 'stupid' being flung at poor Chuck, but it was everything else I remembered it to be and it was so nice to have someone to watch it with. I was rewarded for my special treat by a "Oh, dey so funny mamma" by a sleepy Snug and a big hug as I put him back to bed.
So Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow! (Oh, it has stopped...imagine the meteorologists over reacting...never)
We have a few things to share…

I so wanted to watch Charlie Brown Christmas...but didn't...my hubby isn't a fan of the same show over and over again! Oh...and my little bro and his wife live in Dayton...she's in med-school at Wright State...small world:) Did ya ever try that chicken recipe? If so, how'd it turn out?
I enjoyed your song. ;o)
Oh my gosh I totally have to try that with the next sales call I get LOL! I don't know how you kept quiet that long!!! :)
Matthew is in love with Charlie Brown this year! We have the Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas ones on video and Matthew could watch them over and over again. What fun getting your boy out of bed to watch!
